"Yes, You Remembered Me"

While most newspaper political cartoonists, reflecting the Republican allegiances of their publishers, were hostile to FDR and the New Deal, the New York Daily News’s Clarence Batchelor supported the administration. This 1936 cartoon leading up to the presidential election reminded readers about the New Deal programs’ efforts to confront the nation’s unemployment crisis.
