AIM for Victory Poster, ca. 1975

The American Indian Movement (AIM) formed in the late 1960s to resist U.S. government policies of assimilation, fight discrimination and police brutality, and maintain Native social and cultural traditions. In the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, AIM activists created AIM survival schools designed to meet the needs of Native students and their families. AIM opened The Red School House in 1972 and it remained active until 1994.
